ABOUT TAI CHI
Taijiquan (or Tai Chi Chuan) has a historical tradition for self cultivation and the development of good health, longevity, the balancing of the body’s structure and its function. It follows Taoist philosophy and goes hand in hand with Traditional Chinese medicine and Acupuncture.
Tai Chi also uses psychology, breathing practices, meditation, stretching and health science to improve the students practice.

There are five major styles of Tai Chi Chuan, each named after the Chinese family from which it originated:
  • Chen style of Chen Wangting (1580–1660)
  • Yang style of Yang Lu Chan (1799–1872)
  • Wu or Wu (Hao)-style of Wu Yu Hsiang (1812–1880)
  • Wu style of Wu Chuan Yu (1834–1902) and his son Wu Chien Chuan (1870–1942)
  • Sun style of Sun Lu Tang (1861–1932)
All existing styles can be traced back to the Chen-style, which had been passed down as a family secret for generations. The Chen family chronicles record Chen Wangting, of the family’s 9th generation, as the inventor of what is known today as t’ai chi ch’uan. Yang Luchan became the first person outside the family to learn t’ai chi ch’uan. His success in fighting earned him the nickname Yang Wudi, which means “Unbeatable Yang”, and his fame and efforts in teaching greatly contributed to the spreading of t’ai chi ch’uan knowledge.
The modern era has seen the introduction of the 24 Yang style, and many more modern forms have been developed suitable for competition both for that styles and combination of styles.
This has led to a new interest in Taiji with an age range from 4 to people in their 90s

Competition forms – 42 Taiji Chaun, 42 Jian, 56 Chen Taiji Chuan, Wudan Taiji Jian
Other internal systems – Chi Gong(Qigong), Dao Yin, Xingyi and Ba Gua .
