Kung fu/Kungfu or Gung fu/Gongfu is a Chinese term referring to any study, learning, or practice that requires patience, energy, and time to complete, often used in the West to refer to Chinese martial arts. Wushu is the term for military martial arts and is also used for modern sport style chinese martial arts, characterised by fast movements and jumps.
The origins of Kung Fu are meant to be from the result from a long history of warring states and developed in the Shoalin temple when Bodiharma travelled from India, after seeing the Buddhist monks fat and lazy, taught them exercises to get them fit.
It developed from there into different styles internal and external, including animal styles, fighting and weapons.

VARIETY OF STYLES

  • External styles including – Long fist, Wing chun, Praying Mantis, Choy Li Fut, weapons and Sanda/Sanshou (Chinese boxing/kickboxing)
  • Internal styles include – Tai Chi (Traditional Yang, Chen, Sun and modern competition forms), weapons, push hands, Xingyi, Bagua and Chi gong
